Small businesses are starting to tap into the National Broadband Network (nbn®) to get things done.
According to the Australian Financial Review, the nbn® roll out is starting to make its way throughout the country and by 2020, it’s expected to pass eight million premises. That means that most, if not all Australians will have access to an Internet connection with a speed of at least 25 Mbps and upload speeds of 5 Mbps.
The good news is, the nbn® has already kick-started the use of digital tools and techniques that is used by businesses, which results in increased productivity. Finally, small businesses can tap into that.
Sources said that Telstra conducted a survey last March, which involved 300 small to medium-sized businesses and found out that it resulted into a wide array of benefits including a shift in cloud computing and increased social media and website use.
With the roll-out quickly happening, many small businesses are starting to upgrade their hardware, which include new computer parts, new tablets and mobile devices.
We spoke to a resident of one of the first areas to receive access to the nbn®, Arthur Shaw. His business has a fibre to the premise (FTTP) connection, which will make up 17 percent of the connections over the entire nbn® in 2020, when the network roll-out is expected to complete. The rest of the country will be on other types of connection that make up the nbn® ‘s Multi Technology Mix, with 51 percent on fibre to the node (FTTN), 24 percent on hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) and the remaining 8 percent, mostly in remote and regional areas, on fixed wireless or satellite.

“As the business evolved and our need for technology grew, the planets aligned and we were able to become an early adopter on the nbn®.”

It’s a fact that regional and rural Australia’s Internet has been needing an upgrade for quite some time now and luckily, it’s starting to be addressed as the nbn satellite two Sky Muster® satellites have been launched.
The nbn® Sky Muster satellite brings better satellite internet connectivity to regional Australia. To get onboard Sky Muster, call Activ8me today 13 22 88 or visit: https://activ8me.net.au/internet/skymuster
