Many Australian farmers are having a hard time capitalising on using technology to help them grow, in every sense of the word.
A report by Courier Mail said farmers in Queensland are being hindered by a problems such as unreliable communication systems, not-so-ideal climate and a poor transport infrastructure. The industry of high-tech agriculture is growing but Queensland farmers can’t tap into it.
The 60th International Federation of Agricultural Journalists conference was recently held in Germany, and saw the participation of different countries such as the United States, Japan and Australia, where the theme was “sustainability.”
It was successful to say the least, and showcased innovations in agriculture of Europe, which also posed as a challenge to Australia. Dr. Felix Prinz zu Lowenstein, a major influence when it comes to international food lobby, predicts that farming in Australia is unsustainable.
According to Lowenstein, the country’s thin soil and dry and arid weather makes farming more difficult. All is not lost though, as Australia can implement a smarter approach when it comes to farming to make it sustainable.

“There is already enough fertile land on this earth to grow crops to feed people, we just need to use those existing regions more intelligently.’’

Intelligent farming involves the use of technology and the Internet to help the common Australian farmer with their crops, significantly increasing its sustainability.
The Australian farming industry can greatly benefit from the nbn® Sky Muster® satellite internet, which will allow faster broadband connections that will give farmers a better communication platform, as well as access to new technology such as applications that automatically monitor and measure water levels around the farm.
The NBN’s Sky Muster satellite brings better satellite internet connectivity to regional Australia. To get onboard Sky Muster Plans, call Activ8me today 13 22 88 or visit: https://activ8me.net.au/internet/skymuster
