nbn® Reaches 1 Million Active Connections

nbn surpasses 1 million active premises
The nbn® has surpassed a million mark with active customer subscriptions reaching 1,003,474 as of the 19th of May, 2016. Happening two months ahead of schedule, the milestone figure breaks the network’s connection targets for the year.
Minister for Communications Mitch Fifield attributed this achievement to the dedicated work of the nbn® management and thousands of employees and construction contractors.
“The nbn® has consistently met its operational milestones over the past eight quarters and has already exceeded its corporate plan revenue goal,” Fifield enthused.
According to his statement, in less than a year, the nbn® has more than doubled its reach from 1.16 million premises in July 2015 to more than 2.5 million in the present.
“The Coalition’s management of the nbn® will see the network completed six to eight years sooner than under Labor’s plan and at around $30 billion less cost,” remarked Fifield as quoted by The Australian.
“Under the former Labor Government, the nbn® rollout was so badly managed that by mid-2013, the rollout had fallen 85 percent short of the planned target and contractors had downed tools in four states. Under Labor, $6.5 billion was spent over four years to connect just 51,000 nbn® users,” Fifield added.

Highest Quarter Revenue, Activations Boost Up
Network revenue continues to flux in its coffers as 1st quarter earnings raked in $111 million, a 158 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, while the Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) remained stable at $43.
Chief Executive Bill Morrow said the nbn® was right on track in reaching its full year corporate plan targets with activation projects going ahead of schedule.
“The nbn® is ahead of plan on activations, which is translated through to improved earnings. The experience and satisfaction of our end-users are positive and we are now connecting, on the average 14,000 new premises each week,” Morrow asserted.
This quarter has seen the rollout footprint extended to over two million premises. The official nbn® weekly progress report reveals that Satellite has the highest number of eligible premises to be covered in the Greenfields (new developments) at 400,872, while the premises currently activated is 35,118.
