‘‘This is an important milestone for the area, with greater certainty for homes and businesses as they prepare for superfast broadband services,’’ Mr. Matheson said.

According to an NBN spokesperson, Telstra’s pre-construction work, which was started back in June, had been completed in the two suburbs. She said around 2,400 homes and businesses in Campbelltown and Leumeah had already moved on to the ‘‘build’’ phase of the project.

It is the NBN’s goal to bring faster and more reliable broadband to Australians, including residents of Campbelltown, the spokesperson said.

‘‘Every community is important, but due to the nature and size of the project, the NBN is being rolled out in stages using a mix of technologies.”

Bradbury was added to the list in Mr. Matheson’s recent announcement.
